In God, we are safe and secured…

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
A Sunday school teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible, Psalm 23.

She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter.
Little Rick was excited about the task – but he just couldn’t
remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely
get past the first line.
On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in
front of the congregation, Ricky was very nervous.
When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said
proudly, “The Lord is my Shepherd, and that’s all I need to know.”

When I wake up everyday…

Morning Motivation

When I
woke up this morning lying in bed,
I was asking myself;
What
are some of the secrets of success in life?
I found
the answer right there,
in my very room.

To walk with God with Grateful Heart (jack mcardle)

I got up early one morning

And rushed right into the day;

I had so much to accomplish

That I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,

And heavier came each task.

‘Why doesn’t God help me?’ I wondered.

He answered, ‘Because you didn’t ask.’

I wanted to see joy and beauty,

But the day toiled on, grey and bleak.

I wondered, ‘Why didn’t God show me?’

He said, ‘Because you didn’t seek.’

I tried to come into God’s presence;

I used all my keys at the lock.

God gently and lovingly chided,

‘My Child, you didn’t knock.’

I woke up early this morning,

And paused before entering the day.

I had so much to accomplish,

That I had to take time to pray! (author unknown)

– The ideal: John gets out of bed in the morning, goes on his knees, thanks God for the gift of today. He then hands the day back to God,asking him to take it and keep it in his care, and to be with John, and all he does or says throughout the day.

-At night time, John goes on his knees again, and says “Thank you.”

-At anytime during the day, when John got anxious, afraid, flustered, worried, etc, he knew that that meant he was taking that part of the day back from God, and was holding himself responsible for it.

28th Sunday Readings…Indigenous People’s Sunday

Mass Readings

First reading 2 Kings 5:14-17 ©
Naaman the leper went down and immersed himself seven times in the Jordan, as Elisha had told him to do. And his flesh became clean once more like the flesh of a little child.
Returning to Elisha with his whole escort, he went in and stood before him. ‘Now I know’ he said ‘that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel. Now, please, accept a present from your servant.’ But Elisha replied, ‘As the Lord lives, whom I serve, I will accept nothing.’ Naaman pressed him to accept, but he refused. Then Naaman said, ‘Since your answer is “No,” allow your servant to be given as much earth as two mules may carry, because your servant will no longer offer holocaust or sacrifice to any god except the Lord.’

Psalm Psalm 97:1-4

Second reading 2 Timothy 2:8-13 ©
Remember the Good News that I carry, ‘Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David’; it is on account of this that I have my own hardships to bear, even to being chained like a criminal – but they cannot chain up God’s news. So I bear it all for the sake of those who are chosen, so that in the end they may have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus and the eternal glory that comes with it.
Here is a saying that you can rely on:
If we have died with him, then we shall live with him.
If we hold firm, then we shall reign with him.
If we disown him, then he will disown us.
We may be unfaithful, but he is always faithful,
for he cannot disown his own self.

Gospel Luke 17:11-19 ©
On the way to Jerusalem Jesus travelled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered one of the villages, ten lepers came to meet him. They stood some way off and called to him, ‘Jesus! Master! Take pity on us.’ When he saw them he said, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ Now as they were going away they were cleansed. Finding himself cured, one of them turned back praising God at the top of his voice and threw himself at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan. This made Jesus say, ‘Were not all ten made clean? The other nine, where are they? It seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except this foreigner.’ And he said to the man, ‘Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.’
REFLECTION:
Many times we complain to the Lord for the things we do not receive after we’ve prayed a lot for it…and yet we take for granted the many other marvelous things that he has given, without us, even asking.
Before we go to bed tonight, let’s try to recall our blessings from God and from others…I am sure, we’ll be forever grateful and smiling…God bless!!!!
