So long Bishop Joe Grech

I lost my second Father. Ever since I came to Australia, about four years now, Bishop Joe has been my father, a mentor and a friend. He made me face the reality of my own father’s death, which I have been suppressing for more than ten years. Only last year, this year, during the Holy Week, when I just burst into tears realizing how I missed my Father so much. Bishop Joe was there, to comfort me, to lead me into accepting the truth of my Father’s death. It was in the small oratory in the place where he lives in Golden Square Victoria. He has been my new father since then, and now he’s gone.

Bishop Joe, I couldn’t thank you enough for your constant support for me and for us seminarians. You are a great inspiration for us all. Thank you very much. So long, farewell, and see you THERE.

A Prayer for Bishop Joe Grech

Hello everyone. Bishop Joe Grech is the Bishop of the Diocese of Sandhurst, Victoria Australia. He is an amazing man of God and a man for all people, well-known charismatic speaker and preacher.  As of the moment, he is in an INTENSIVE unit in the hospital in Melbourne. He needs our prayers. Please just say ONE Hail Mary for him and for his recovery.

Have a look at him in this short video and see for yourself, how great he is in his personal relationship with Jesus. We need a person like him in and for our world today. Let’s pray for his health.

HAIL MARY, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death Amen.

Saint John, Apostle, Evangelist [Readings]

First reading 1 John 1:1-4 ©
Something which has existed since the beginning,
that we have heard,
and we have seen with our own eyes;
that we have watched
and touched with our hands:
the Word, who is life –
this is our subject.
That life was made visible:
we saw it and we are giving our testimony,
telling you of the eternal life
which was with the Father and has been made visible to us.
What we have seen and heard
we are telling you
so that you too may be in union with us,
as we are in union
with the Father
and with his Son Jesus Christ.
We are writing this to you to make our own joy complete.

Psalm Psalm 96:1-2,5-6,11-12

Gospel John 20:2-8 ©
On the first day of the week Mary of Magdala came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb’ she said ‘and we don’t know where they have put him.’
So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed.
REFLECTION:
St John has heard of Jesus. He has also seen the Lord. With that experience with Jesus, he could not help but preached and tell the whole world about the wonderful experience he has of  the Lord. This is the result of his belief that Jesus is really the WORD of God who comes into the world and made flesh for us….
As Christians, certainly we’ve heard the Lord, we have seen him in our eyes of faith, we believe in him…NOW do we have the courage to tell the whole world of our experience with him?

If God gave us one more chance to live our lives to its full…what?

If God gave us one more chance to live our lives to its full…what…???

Two priests died at the same time and met Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates.

St. Peter said, “I’d like to get you guys in now, but our computer’s down. You’ll have to go back to Earth for about a week, but you can’t go back as humans. What’ll it be?”

The first priest says, “I’ve always wanted to be an eagle, soaring above the Rocky mountains.”

“So be it,” says St. Peter, and off flies the first priest.

The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, “Will any of this week ‘count’, St. Peter?”

“No, I told you the computer’s down. There’s no way we can keep track of what you’re doing. The week’s a freebie.”

“In that case,” says the second priest, “I’ve always wanted to be a stud.”

“So be it,” says St. Peter, and the second priest disappears.

A week goes by, the computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter to recall the two priests.

“Will you have any trouble locating them?” he asks.

“The first one should be easy,” says St. Peter. “He’s somewhere over the Rockies, flying with the eagles. But the second one could prove to be more difficult.”

“Why?” asketh the Lord.

St. Peter answered, “He’s on a snow tire, somewhere in North Dakota.”

WILL WE BE STILL TRUE TO OURSELVES????
